Song: Hocus Pocus
Artist:  Focus
Album:  Focus II  (1971)

In the past two weeks I’ve explored some pretty interesting music from Japan – mostly experimental stuff that might be considered less palatable than you might be used to.  I want to return to some more easily digestible music, but I want to take my time getting back to that point.  Yesterday you listened to “Noonward Race” – which I hope you enjoyed.

Today you get an incredible song from 1971:  the classic rock hit, “Hocus Pocus” by Dutch group, Focus.  Gotta love it.

Yodeling, man, yodeling.

Song:  Snoopy Waves
Artist:  Deerhoof
Album:  Offend Maggie (2008)

I’ve purposely chosen a live performance of this song because this is the version I first heard and I think it’s stronger than the album performance – it’s more energetic and it’s pretty awesome.

Deerhoof are a band that you’re either gonna love or hate and with good reason.  Their music isn’t for everyone but it’s perfect for people like me.  Just listen to how eclectic it is.  Love it.
